FAQ

Straight answers, before you ask.

The questions fabricators, GCs, and estimators ask us most — answered the way we’d answer them on a call.

What is structural steel detailing?+

Structural steel detailing converts structural engineering drawings into shop-ready fabrication drawings and erection drawings. A complete package typically includes member marks, connection details, anchor bolt plans, weld and bolt information, material lists, and coordination notes so the steel can be fabricated and installed accurately.

How fast can Fabricators Clinic review an RFQ?+

Fabricators Clinic typically reviews complete RFQ packages within 24 hours or one business day. Turnaround depends on project size, drawing completeness, and scope complexity. For urgent bid situations, clients can email office@fabricatorsclinic.com.

Do you provide steel detailing services across North America?+

Yes. Fabricators Clinic supports steel fabricators, general contractors, construction managers, engineering consultants, and trade teams across the USA and Canada with steel detailing, miscellaneous steel, rebar detailing, takeoffs, IFC model review, and coordination support.

What is miscellaneous steel detailing?+

Miscellaneous steel detailing covers fabricated steel items outside the main structural frame, including stairs, handrails, guardrails, ladders, platforms, embeds, lintels, canopies, gates, and custom steel components. These scopes still require clear shop drawings, field-fit thinking, and clean coordination.

What trades do you estimate?+

Fabricators Clinic provides estimating and multi-trade takeoff support for steel, rebar, drywall, metal framing, stucco, EIFS, roofing, cladding, concrete, painting, insulation, finishes, and related construction scopes.

Do you follow CWB standards?+

Fabricators Clinic follows, adheres to, and references CWB standards where applicable, along with AISC, AWS, CSA, CISC, RCSC, ASTM, ACI, CRSI, project specifications, engineer-of-record direction, and fabrication requirements. This is standards-aware detailing; it is not a claim of CWB certification.

What files can clients send for RFQ?+

Clients can send PDF drawings, bid sets, sketches, IFC models, DWG files, revision clouds, specifications, project notes, site photos, or partial scope documents. A complete package helps the review move faster and makes the proposal clearer.

Can you provide PE stamping coordination?+

Yes. Fabricators Clinic coordinates PE stamping through licensed engineering partners when sealed drawings or engineering calculations are required. Requirements depend on project location, authority having jurisdiction, engineer-of-record direction, and structural scope.

What is IFC model review?+

IFC model review is the process of inspecting a neutral 3D construction model to check geometry, coordination conflicts, drawing consistency, and constructability before fabrication releases. It helps project teams review steel scope without requiring native software files.

How do I start?+

Use the Get a Quote page or email office@fabricatorsclinic.com with your bid set, drawings, model files, specifications, and project notes. Fabricators Clinic reviews the package and responds with scope questions, next steps, and RFQ direction.
